"While planning our October wedding in Bethany Beach, the wedding menu was at the top of our priorities. The quality of food and service had to be exquisite and, more importantly, it had to surpass the expectations of my parents (caterers and restaurateurs in their former lives) and a guest list of serious foodies. We met with several caterers in the area and quickly became discouraged - some didn't understand our desire for a relaxed beachside wedding and wanted to send servers in black tie and keep us to a strict timeline, and all had mediocre food - frozen seafood at the beach?

Then, thankfully, another wedding vendor recommended Solstice. So, I emailed some information and Guy called me back within 24 hours to discuss. Working with Guy and Amanda to iron out the details, all while dealing with the time delay of my parents living in Europe, was effortless. And, when we couldn't secure linens for our rented tables two weeks before the wedding, Guy and Amanda stepped in and made sure our tables would be covered.

The wedding meal absolutely could not have been better. From the amazing artisanal spread (people are still talking about the meats and cheeses, roasted apples, and spiced carrots) to the steak that was wood-fire grilled to a perfect medium rare... People said it wasn't just the best "wedding" food they've ever had, but just the best food, period. And Paula made sure that, while we were taking pictures during the cocktail hour, a sampling of the appetizers was saved for us.

A wedding for 50 guests doesn't warrant a large catering staff, but it felt like there were 30 people there - they were almost invisible in their serving and clearing, and at all times were thoughtful and gracious. They kept the workspace tidy and clean and Leo even stayed late to make sure all was clean and left in its place.

The best endorsement: My dad, a retired chef, upon his next visit to Maryland in November, is requesting that we make the 3-hour drive from Baltimore for dinner at the hotel. So, we'll see you then - and my dad is hoping he can get your aged Gouda through Customs on his way home to Germany!"

"Occasionally in life, no one alive can deny, fate has a way of doling out a few curve-balls ultimately reminding us of who's really in charge. When organizing an event (like a wedding) small curve-balls can seem more like gut wrenching sucker-punches. It's in these vulnerable positions that some seemingly small actions of humanity can have the most positively reaffirming impact.

We felt stranded when, with only a few short weeks, we had to start over from the beginning to find a venue and make our final wedding arrangements. Initially intimidated by the level of sophistication, assuming that an establishment like this would be well out of our financial means, we were hesitant to submit all our hopes to Solstice Grill and the Atlantic Hotel. After a brief comforting "sit-down" meeting with Guy we knew 100% that, not only could they deliver more than could ever be expected for what we could afford monetarily, but they were willing to listen, understand and focus their attention toward satisfying all of our wishes.

It has been a week now, and both of us still remain in utter disbelief at the magnitude of success that our wedding reception truly came to achieve. Our main goal was simple... for every guest to have fun. We are still astonished daily to hear about how everyone's expectations were shattered by the quality of food, drink, atmosphere, and overall beauty of the event. We are still reliving our surprise to the attention to the particulars, like the staff moving some decorations inside when the weather became unsuitable.

Occasionally in life, fate has a way of extending a helping grasp to lift you to your feet when you're on the ground feeling helpless. Not only do we consider Solstice Grill and all its staff to be the saviors of what was our most special day as a loving couple. But, in retrospect, we could not have imagined a more ideal evening if our original plans had panned out as they were. This was a miraculous lesson in being open to life's deliverance of positive change that we will never forget. We are forever indebted to everyone at Solstice. You really understood what I was looking for. Having dined at your establishment prior to our event, I knew that your menu was fun and unique. I also wanted to tailor my selections to suit my staff and what I believed they would enjoy. I wanted the Solstice twist on a "meat and potatoes" type menu and that is what you delivered! Our dinner was superb satisfying every guest from the pickiest eater to the connoisseur. And for dessert, I could never have imagined that an ice cream station could be so elegant. The General Store was opened just for us. Our guests were able to select any flavor they wanted and then move to another room where tons of topping were set up for us. The room was lit by dozens of candles everywhere; it was really beautiful. Every guest left stuffed and ecstatic!

"This past winter holiday season I was the newly appointed Director of Human Resources for South Moon Under, part of my responsibilities were to plan and execute a holiday party for approximately 50 Home Office employees and their guest. The Company had fallen into a rut and for many years had the same party at the same location and the employees were letting me know that they were bored and the attendance had been falling from one year to the next. I decided the time had come to “shake things up”. At the recommendation of several of our employees I contacted Amanda at Solstice in Berlin. "My husband and I had our wedding reception at Solstice restaurant with the party continuing into the bar area for live music and dancing. I couldn't imagine our event being anything more. The food was phenomenal. Original and earth-conscious, every guest I spoke to commented on the food being the best they had ever eaten at a wedding. Several referred to it as the best dinner they had ever had, period. We ate family style, which reflected the feel of the night, warm and friendly. Nino Mancari built a beautiful and unique menu beginning with an outdoor lemonade reception, and Guy Bashore made fantastic wine selections. One guest bought a bottle of red to take home from the Solstice General Store the next day, and I have a friend using the same brand of champagne for her wedding, she liked it so much.
